Building on Tradition: Modern Log Cabin Blocks Freebie!!!
This stash-busting, scrappy quilt is made of log cabin blocks in 4 different sizes that you mix and match to build your quilt. How many you make and the size of the quilt is up to you! Traditionally, the log cabin block has a red center square representing the hearth or home. In this version, the center is fussy cut from fabric motifs or a panel. The "logs" that frame the center block are ½" finished strips.
I'll share my method for making the blocks, but if you have a preferred method or specialty ruler, use that!
If precision piecing makes your heart sing, foundation paper piecing (FPP) templates are included. If you want to use the templates, but not sure how to FPP, there are numerous tutorials or videos online. A quick search should give you just what you need get started!
