I’ve been doing a …

LITTLE SEWING!

I’m not sure if you could hear me celebrating from where you live, but I retired from my corporate job on July 27th. And then Neptune Star quilt pattern launched that weekend. I could NOT wait to get into my studio and MAKE ALL OF THE THINGS. Here they are in all their glory!!

First, I made my sister sew!

That’s right. She came for a visit and so I put her to work. This is a very easy beginner project using Ten Sisters Easy Piecing Grids. I still need to quilt if for her. I hope to do that this week.

I also am taking Maria Shell’s Riffing on Tradition virtual workshop. I’m not sure why I haven’t taken this sooner. Improv traditional blocks are my very favorite things to create. I’m having so much fun, that can’t stop sewing these stars!!! I also took her Perfectly Pointless Triangles workshop over the weekend. SO MANY TRIANGLES!

Improv Star Quilt Blocks

If that isn’t enough, I am participating in two Sew Alongs:

  • #30daysofimprovqal hosted by Shannon Fraser and Amanda Carye on Instagram!

  • 100 Modern Quilt Blocks based on Tula Pink’s book!

30 Days of Improv

I don’t have enough blocks to make a composition yet, but I still enjoy moving them around and playing with them.

100 Modern Blocks Sampler

I started the Sew Along late, so I worked hard last week to catch up.

What’s next? (Besides finishing all of these!) This week my goal is to bind a few quilts and get some tops quilted. But next week my soul sister, Susan, is coming to town and we are going to tackle Jen Kingwell’s Wensleydale quilt. Susan found this great tutorial for cutting the pieces for the FPP version. Here’s my current situation.

Wensleydale Prep

The upper left corner are my little block bundles. Not shown is the huge mess to the right of my cutting table or the fabrics strewn all over my floor. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

In other news, I’m planning a sew along for Neptune Star. Check out my home page for details.

I’m also going to offer a 4-week Super Basic-Beginner-Newbie-Intro to Quilting class via Zoom. I’m still working on the plans, but if you or someone you know would like updates, click here.

Until next time - Peace, Love, and All Things Quilty.
